This feedback concentrates on the good aspects that has
been developed/performed. This provides a good motivational force however
doesn't indicate any areas for improvement. By merely concentrating on the
good points, the mentee will get a false picture of themselves.
NEGATIVE
This feedback focuses on the poor aspects of the development/performance.
This does allow the mentee to identify areas for improvement and thereby
develop an action plan for the future, however it can de-motivate if the
mentor merely focuses on the areas of development.
CONSTRUCTIVE
This is the most balanced and objective type of feedback.
The individual gains motivation from this form of feedback as it highlights
both strengths and information on the areas where improvements can be made.
DESTRUCTIVE
This feedback is given in such a way that the mentee doesn't
know how well he/she has progressed or what they have done well or how to
improve his/her performance. The person feels bemused, frustrated and totally
de-motivated.
