CHECKLIST FOR PROVIDING EFFECTIVE LEARNING

Check your Learning skills.
Be clear and agree the purpose of the learning process with the mentee
Make sure that the mentee is listened to when discussing how the learning will take place
Ensure that the mentee's development covers the appropriate level of skill, knowledge and understanding and the necessary attitude/behaviour expected
Be aware of the mentee's learning styles
Help plan the right environment for the individual
Support and guide the mentee through the stages of Kolb's experiential learning cycle in order for them to use the experience to its full advantage
Be aware that it is necessary for the mentor to help the mentee to move out of his/her comfort zone
Mutually agree any action plans
