CHECKLIST FOR EFFECTIVE QUESTIONING

Check your Questioning skills.
Practice your questioning techniques
Prepare your main questions beforehand
Help the mentee to relax
Ensure that there are no interruptions
Allow the mentee to answer the question - don't dive in
Rephrase your question if necessary
Use the right type of questions at the right time
Not use multiple or leading questions
Limit the use of closed questions
Summarise to ensure that you have understood what has been said
Make relevant notes of responses
